The History First Ever Frog Without Lungs

Another new species has been discovering by the evolutionary biologists...

An Expedition teams found a new aquatic frog species named “Barbourula kalimantanensis” in the remote part of Kalimantan province, Indonesia.

Ok, you must be wonder here, what so special about this tiny frog? Well, one of the special matters about this aquatic frog is they did not have any lungs and only breathes through its thin skin.

Am I kidding here?

No, this is a fact, where David Bickford, an evolutionary biologist at the National University of Singapore unveiled this shocking news recently at Singapore.

As one of the team expedition member on Kalimantan in August 2007, Bickford said this aquatic frog species is the first frog known to science without lungs. The others amphibians species that been found have this similarity are a few species of salamanders and Caecilian, a wormlike creature.

“Barbourula kalimantanensis” have been knew as the most ancient and bizarre frog species that ever life in the Earth. They all have a flat and with the big bulging eyes that always float above the water, along side with skin flaps coming off their arms and legs, making this kind of aquatic frog an “evolutionary unique creature” (maybe the ugliest frog species?) in the frog’s family.

The important living source for this kind of frog is water. The biologists found out, if the frog has moved out from the water for couple of hours, a critical fatal will awaiting them.

According to Bickford, more research been scheduled and will be taking on this unique species.

I hope that they can reveal more facts in near future.
